AFRICAN AMERICAN SCHOOL BUILDING REVIVAL

The former Sunshine High School building is now the St. Gabriel City Hall, which was incorporated in 1994. The building was also formerly known as the Leroy P. Alfred Sr. Sports Complex, which was named after a local man who died in 2011. The school’s alumni website shows graduation years from 1956 to 1990. The northern-most wing of the former school building was demolished in 2014.
