Shady Grove High School’s history began as early as 1805 when classes started to be held at Shady Grove Baptist Church. The parish eventually took over the school in 1892 and a new school was built. As the school grew, another school was built in 1916 on ten acres of land, which was later destroyed by a tornado and rebuilt in 1922- 23. In 1956 a new brick building was built that included classrooms and a gymnasium, and the preexisting wooden structure was brick-veneered. Eventually the students were integrated into Bienville High School and Saline High School and Shady Grove High School closed as a high school in 1986. The building still stands today and is in use as a recreation center.
