Plaisance High School is located in the western region of St. Landry Parish and has been open since 1921. Throughout the years there have been many expansion efforts to the building, developing from an eight-student high school to a 200-student elementary school. This school has also received a historical marker for the being the only Rosenwald school in the state of Louisiana still being used for its original purpose in the present day.
