AFRICAN AMERICAN SCHOOL BUILDING REVIVAL

North Eunice High School

St. Landry Parish

891-n-eunice-front.png

In the early 1900s, like many other towns, the only means of education of African American children in Eunice were through home education and education through the local churches. Through these advocates, however, Eunice was able to construct their first African American school called North Eunice High School led by Reverend George Guillory. Today, the school remains and has been renamed East Elementary School serving over 200 students in grades PreK-4.
