AFRICAN AMERICAN SCHOOL BUILDING REVIVAL

Natchez High School

Madison Parish

Natchez High School opened in 1953 in the small town of Natchez just outside Natchitoches, Louisiana. The building stands extant and part of the building is still in use as a town hall. There is significant community interest in its revitalization, as part of the campus is still being used and has potential for renovation. There is also a series of small, bending rivers near the building that are an integral part of the landscape. While parts of the school have not been in use for some time, the overall campus could still absolutely be revitalized.
