Charles Drew High School was Eunice’s second African American school, built more than 10 years after North Eunice High School in 1951. Named in honor of blood plasma research physician Charles R. Drew, the school house over 1,000 African American students from grades 1-12. In 1969, integration laws caused Charles Drew High School to merge with North Eunice High School and the vacated school building became known as Central Middle School.
