Before Jonesville Consolidated High School, African American children were begin educated in the local St. Mark Baptist Church. In 1928, African American residents of Jonesville collectively purchased 10 acres of land for the purpose of building a new school. The school was opened in 1933 as Catahoula Parish Training School with four educators. Over time, more educators were requested to meet the demands of the growing student population until 1953, when consolidation moved African American students in this area to Jonesville School. This same year, the Catahoula Parish Training School was renamed Jonesville Consolidated High School. This school continued to expand and in 1970 the school became Jonesville Junior High School open to all students in the parish.
