AFRICAN AMERICAN SCHOOL BUILDING REVIVAL

Allen Parish Training School

Allen Parish

1072-allen-pa-historical.png

Allen Parish Training School originally opened in 1926 serving African American students in Oakdale in connection with the neighboring church. Sometime in the 1940s, the school was renamed Allen High School. Although today the reason for its demolition is unknown, a historical marker stands in front of the original building footprint to memorialize its legacy.
